Phoenix has had its first 100 degree day, reaching that mark for the first time in 2024 on Sunday.

And Monday, the National Weather Service in Phoenix says to prepare for another, with a forecast high of 100 degrees. But a cooldown is expected later in the week.

Meteorologist Ryan Worley says the hot temperatures are coming early.

“On average our first 100 degree day is May 2nd, and with yesterday being the [April] 21st, we are a little bit ahead. It’s not totally crazy. Last year we saw our first 100 degree day on April 30th so it’s not completely unordinary to see 100 degree temperatures around this time, but it is a little early," Worley said.

Worley says last year saw 66 straight days of 100-plus degree temperatures. With a whopping 133-day total, the third most amount on record.
