The Arizona Game and Fish Department is warning the public about a suspected rabid fox that attacked two people in the Coronado National Forest, near Tucson.

The gray fox injured a Utah man and attacked a mountain biker in separate incidents.

“In all probability, the threat posed by this particular fox will pass soon because it was in the advanced stage of rabies and probably didn’t have much longer to live. It’s almost always fatal once symptoms onset," said Mark Hart, a spokesman with the agency.

According to Hart, the fox was described as “appearing sickly to being extremely aggressive.”

He says anyone who sees this type of behavior should contact the Game and Fish Department. Report wildlife emergencies to 623-236-7201.
